Power carving!

A new chapter power carving and bandsaw cutting of wood to make objects.

As a beginner in this hobby, safety is most important using eye ware and mask. Someone said its the dust you don’t see that may cause harm. Another is getting familiar with the tools you use and how they operate.

While using a bandsaw, blades will break easily, so you may learn to repair them or make another purchase. I made a shield guide that fits around the blade with a smaller opening to keep small debris from getting into the guild and may cause a blade to jam and break.

I use my 3d printer to make guides for the bandsaw. A smaller opening may reduce the amount of debris falling into the channel and break a blade.

I made a dust cabinet and attached and connected it to a dust system to catch dust and their is a lot.

Once a project is completed, choosing how to detail it and apply a finish is next, by painting, torch burning or some type of stain to ones choosing.

One other thing ,using a rotary tool to carve your objects, its very important to follow all safety protocols. Learning about the different bits and how they work is very important and knowing the direction your tool rotates and dealing with edges. The bit may roll over the edge and hit fingers.

This is just a few things to content with as you do a project , choosing a material is another challenge such as hard woods or some other suitable woods.

Learning to silver solder bandsaw blades, I had some success. The first thing I do is to put them in a circle after soldering, if they don’t beak, then to smooth out the joint. if all goes well, I install it on the bandsaw and then try to make a cut, if the blade don’t break, I claim success. Choosing the right silver solder in paramount and having a clean joint to solder. My attempt for brazing hasn’t been successful. Getting the right brazing rods that match the heat maximum of my torch is my difficulty.
